Our Client in the Retail Industry with branches in Durban and Cape Town, is currently looking for a committed, suitably qualified, and experienced individual to fill the position of Training Officer, the successful candidate will be based in their Durban branch.
The Training Officer will report and operate under the direction of the HR Executive with the following tasks and responsibilities: Preparation and submission of the WSP and ATR.
Ensure Training needs are identified, and action taken swiftly.
Conduct skills gap analysis to identify training needs across the board whilst also identify potential training courses and training providers.
Draw up yearly training plans for each staff member whilst maintaining a database of skills and competence of employees.
Develop technical training courses for all levels by applying relevant regulations and standards.
Develop training material that corresponds to the needs and includes the policies and procedures of the company using various training methods to engage employees, including hands-on and interactive activities.
Evaluate existing training materials, determining what changes need to be made to keep these materials relevant and updated with all company policies.
Assist in the preparation and processing of Employment Equity reports ensuring that training is aligned to both Equity and Skills Development Sit in on the EE & SD committee.
Recommend, control, and organize learnerships to ensure maximum return on SETA funding.
Design and conduct onboarding and orientation programs for new recruits.
Conduct Health & Safety induction Programs to new candidates.
Ensure Successors skills gaps are identified, and relevant training provided in a structured manor.
Introduce various and creative methods of training to simulate difficult client cases.
Introduce and apply various sales training techniques to upsell products.
Ensure effective training programmes and manuals developed for POS and Stock systems Strong focus on merchandising methods, incorporating visual and ease of access, including promotions and gondoliers.
Management training developed and all managers and successors trained effectively.
Assume responsibility for cross-functional tasks.
Support and motivate team members during periods of stress and extra workload.
Stay abreast of all statutory requirements and company regulations.
The Training officer should possess the following skills, qualities, and qualifications: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient knowledge of the company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Proven track record of training facilitation.
Attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and to work well in a team.
Drive and determination.
Capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Hands-on, team player, passionate, confident, and disciplined.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 5 years retail at managerial level experience in similar environment Computer literacy Excellent record keeping ability People person who can coach and mentor and effectively engage staff Own vehicle to travel between stores Qualified SDF would be advantageous ADDITIONAL: This is a demanding role; we are looking for true go-getters with high levels of energy.
