Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Trainee Manager for their Pretoria stores. You will learn overall store operations under the direction and supervision of a store manager. You will perform a wide range of retail operational duties under general guidance and support of an experienced individual.
Minimum Requirements: Grade 12/ MatricMinimum of 1 – 2 years' experience in store retail management disciplines including but not limited to stock management, cash, reporting, expense control, and customer serviceDiploma in Financial / Admin or a relevant 3-year DiplomaComputer literate – MS OfficeWilling and able to work retail hoursValid driver's licenseOwn reliable transportJob Specification: Ensure the processing of items including but not limited to goods in transit, cycle counts, and physical stock to system matches, stock takes, addressing of shrinkage, and overall stock levels.Ensure efficient stock flow to the sales floor.Participate, assist, and support in the management of shrinkage.Assist with the planning, implementation, and maintenance of promotional stock displays.Assist with the adherence, implementation, and maintenance of labeling, pricing, and layout standards.Assist with goods receiving duties guided by the standard operating procedures.Participate in the delivery of transaction integrity for incoming goods receipts and outgoing returns.Assist with reconciliation of daily ZMove Packs in accordance with Receiving policies and procedures.Assist in achieving set store sales targets.Partner with all heads of departments to ensure targets are met.Support management to ensure promotions are effectively executed.Assist management to coordinate with other stores to share knowledge and plan promotional activities.Maintain awareness of market trends in the retail industry.Support management to determine profit and sales objectives and propose strategies to maintain inventory levels.Propose innovative ideas to senior management to increase market share.Assist in the development of regional retail strategies.Assist with daily cash-ups and review of reconciliation packs and paperwork.Assist with the efficient scheduling of the point-of-sale area.Assist with monitoring store expenses and stock adjustments.Support in analyzing and interpreting Financial Income statements.Assist in ensuring all expense-related items are controlled and managed within budget.Support management with transaction integrity throughout the store.Support in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of branch transactions.Support management to improve cashier service levels.Assist with controlling overtime and casual spend.Assist with sign off and investigation of run ends daily.Support management to disseminate, collate, and report all relevant information.Assist in any internal or external audits conducted in store.Assist with addressing customer complaints promptly.Assist with ensuring customer request system is operational.Encourage and report on new loyalty signups continuously.Assist with ensuring accurate manual processing of points to customer accounts.Assist with providing customers with feedback regarding queries and complaints.Assist with people administration duties.Facilitate human resource processes, submissions, and documentation.Account for execution and transaction on the workforce management system.Assist the store with the delivery of HR policies and system implementations.Support management to ensure employees receive training where necessary.Participate and engage in meetings, workshops, and other learning opportunities.Assist managers in completing assigned tasks for on-the-job learning purposes.Complete all required learning programs and assessments to be deemed competent.Ensure Portfolio of Evidence is filed and kept up to date.Housekeeping must be in accordance with Dis-Chem standards.Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.Adhere to Dis-Chem Health and Safety Regulations.Adhere to the Dis-Chem uniform and personal appearance policy.Competencies: Essential: Sound knowledge and understanding of retail store management disciplines.Communication SkillsBusiness AcumenInterpersonal SkillsStrong command of the English languageBasic financial skills – GP, mark-up, VAT, etc.Effective interaction with suppliers, management, reps, and staffStrong analytical skills and time managementSpecial conditions of employment: Willing and able to work retail hoursLocal travelling – valid driver's license and own reliable transportSouth African citizenClear credit and criminal recordsRemuneration and benefits: Market-related salary
