Job Description Trade Accountant Company : Glencore Coal SA Location : Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, South Africa Department : Trade Accounting Job ID : R200000964 Closing Date : 17 January 2025 Role Overview The Trade Accountant will execute critical accounting tasks within the Zinc/Copper marketing trade accounting team, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and delivering accurate financial reporting.
This role supports month-end processes, audits, and financial governance.
Primary Responsibilities Execute month-end trade accounting close by profit center, adhering to IFRS standards.
Prepare detailed monthly IFRS P&L and working capital reports.
Review and reconcile departmental management reports.
Provide accounting support to regional offices during period close.
Coordinate external and internal audits, including financial governance processes.
Document IFRS accounting treatments for structured deals before execution.
Automate and review journal entries for seamless processing into the general ledger.
Identify and implement best practices for accounting processes and internal controls.
Collaborate with the front office, middle office, and corporate teams on financial reporting and analysis.
Key Relationships Front Office (Baar Traders, Baar Traffic).
Financial Controller (Zinc/Copper).
Marketing CFO (Baar).
Zinc/Copper Trade Accounting Lead.
Trade Accounting Teams (Zinc/Copper).
Requirements Qualifications Chartered Accounting Qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA).
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience & Skills Minimum 1-year post-articles experience in a similar role.
Background in Accounting with working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP preferred).
Advanced proficiency in MS Office , especially Excel .
Strong organizational skills, self-starter mentality, and excellent communication abilities.
Attentive to detail with a sense of ownership and accountability.
Advanced written and verbal English skills.
