Read and interpret blueprints, design schematics and CAD drawings.Design jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.Modify dies to conform to manufacturing changes.Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, and milling machines.Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.Filing, grinding and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.Inspect finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness and check for contour deformities.Conduct test runs with completed tools and dies.Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and processes Skills / ExperienceAbility to read drawings and understand technical requirements and specificationsAbility to use and interpret measuring tools.Attention to detail and should be accurate.Experience as Machinist or working in a Tool Room.Experience in working with mills machines and lathes, especially.Matric and machinist qualifications preferred.Punctual and work efficientlyMust be physically strong and fit, to lift heavy equipment.Knowledge of health and safety rules.
