Key Responsibilities: Assist in the overall SHE Risk Management and SHE Incident Management activities.Execute and report SHE Audit regarding compliance and effectiveness of SHE controls systems.Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated.Ensure adoption of SHE strategies by line management to achieve set SHE goals, which are in line with the site's SHE Policy and strategic plan.Conduct daily site inspections, ensuring compliance with legislation, company SHE procedures, regulations, and make recommendations.Provide SHE improvement proposals, corrective action, identify required resources and come up with a plan of implementation for the closure of NCRs issued.Plan, schedule and coordinate SHE investigations.Report and assist in investigating accidents/incidents/complaints and all other safety related issues.Facilitate risk assessments, the writing of safe operating procedures, conducting Behavioural Based Safety Observations.Monitor employee behaviour in line with SHE requirements.Assist with conducting issue-based SHE training as required e.g. use of PPE.Participate in carrying out internal SHE audits/workplace inspections and conduct follow-up and verification to ensure the identified gaps are closed.Monitor chemical, biological, physical and ergonomic hazards and advise on preventive measures to both employees and line managers.Conduct housekeeping audits and drive continuous improvement.Drive contractor management and conduct site safety inductions.Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.Any other duties which may be required by management from time to time.Qualifications, Experience And Personal Qualities: Matric and a National Diploma in Safety Management.Computer Literacy.A recognized certificate in ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 implementation.SHE systems auditing knowledge would be advantageous.A recognized environmental management qualification.Good working knowledge of the OHS ACT, SHE activities, and experience in SHE management systems.At least 3 years' experience preferable in a Food manufacturing or heavy industry environment.Be Safety focused and promote a positive safety culture.
