Closing date: Ongoing Location: Johannesburg Your responsibilitiesWe are seeking a Graduate Process Engineer to be part of the Process Engineering Department.
The successful candidate will be required to fulfil under supervision the job as summarised below but not limited to:
Development of process flow diagrams, mass & energy balances, utility balances.Development of piping and instrument diagrams, mechanical flow diagrams, and utility flow diagrams.Development of process equipment/ instrument data sheets, process philosophies, equipment/ line/ tie-in/ fluid/ utility consumption/ waste & emission lists.Development process philosophies, operating, safety and commissioning manuals.Relief valve calculations and relief load summary and other safety related calculations (e.g. fire protection systems)Provide process inputs to material selection table and hazardous area classification.Learn and perform thermal design of Heat Exchangers using HTRI.Execute hydraulic calculations and perform pump and control valve sizing using the AFT products.Review vendor documentation and perform Technical Bid Evaluations.Familiarization of appropriate design codes with respect to process applications.Learn and perform unit operation sizing.Perform simple calculations.Learn the basic principles of plant layout.Participate on PFD/ P&ID Reviews and Hazops and SIL Reviews.Your profile The incumbent must be in possession of a BSc. Chemical Engineering degree.
Academic excellence in thermodynamics, engineering design and mass & Heat Transfer required. Basic Understanding of Engineering unit operations.
It is advantageous to have some experience or exposure in the following software:
