The role of the Project Engineer is to plan, design, develop and introduce the provision, modification and maintenance of material handling facilities, transport, packaging, processes and systems for the optimal material flow from source to point of use to support Production, P&A and Localisation and Export projects in achieving their scheduled targets.
Duties:
Managing logistics projects from conception to successful implementation
Initiating, developing and implementing World-Class material handling/logistics processes
Analyzing/trouble-shooting existing material handling/logistics processes
Planning and implementing improved warehouse and production layouts and facilities
Designing and implementing racking, storage facilities, pallets and stillages in all shops and warehouses
Developing, introducing and trouble-shooting packaging specifications for local/CKD sourced as well as export parts
Critically analyzing processes with a view to reduce logistics costs
Defining and compiling user specifications to be used for logistics IT Systems development
Compiling and presenting project proposals
Setting of own objectives based on the objectives set by the supervisor then controlling by means of KPIs
Monitoring projects and maintaining all documentation relating to these projects
Monitoring and auditing the operational logistics processes to ensure all the correct standards are maintained
Qualifications:
National Diploma/Degree in Industrial Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
Have a minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience within the logistic environment (Automotive)
Have 2 years Project Management experience
CAD system experience
Essential:
Computer proficient (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Good analytical, planning, organizing and administration skills
Good communication skills (verbal and written)
Be able to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
Be a self-starter who operates independently and is able to work within a team environment
Experience with Logistics IT systems
