Local technical expert to implement a vocational training partnership with the aim of introducing a Mechatronics Technician training program at 2 TVET colleges in Gauteng.The Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bbw) gGmbH is implementing a vocational training partnership on behalf of the BMZ since December 2019. The aim of the project is to introduce a modern apprenticeship program for mechatronic technician at TVET colleges in Gauteng. This is intended to create long-term career prospects in the sector and additional local income opportunities. In addition, sustainable cooperation structures will be established between the TVET colleges and local companies. The project is administrated by sequa gGmbH.In December 2022, the project entered the 2nd phase. The project objective remains the same.In this context the bbw is looking for a local technical assistant to provide technical and strategical consultancy and to conduct short trainings as well as short assessments. The technical assistant should consult and support the longtermexpert in coordination with the German project management.ServicesTechnical Consultancy / Expertise (in Mechatronics: e.g. in-company training, placement, internships, material development)Development of workshop layouts for colleges based on industry requirementsProcurement of suitable equipment for workshops (based on industry needs)Creation of teaching and learning materials for practical lessonsEstablishing contacts with companies/entrepreneurs at local level (focus on Gauteng region) & supporting TVET colleges in building networks with private and public companies for:lecturer placementstudents placementparticipation in occupational certificate "Mechatronics"mentor qualificationbusiness lunches, with the goal to create a Mechatronics hub in the regionsTechnically advising and supporting South African partners in the implementation of the Mechatronic Technician apprenticeship (NQF: Level 5 Occupational Framework)Advising and supporting the South African partners in the implementation of pilot classesLocal quality control with focus on technical topicsCoordination with technical management and consulting of national and international experts (in coordination with the longtermexpert and project management)Short Trainings for TVET-Lecturer (e.g. on new equipment)Communication and coordination with the longtermexpert and the project management in GermanyReporting to the longtermexpert and the project management in GermanyThe technical assistant is a consultancy-based position for a period of 14 months. The following award criteria will be considered, whereby all eligibility criteria must be met:Eligibility criteria:University degree in engineering, mechanics or electronics – or a completed apprenticeship program in mechatronics or a comparable field (metal and electrical)English language skills at C1 levelAt least 7 years professional experiences in the manufacturing fieldExperience in / with at least 3 manufacturing companiesDemonstrable knowledge in the field of mechatronics, electrical engineering or mechanicsAward criteriaRegional knowledge of South AfricaKnowledge of the South African education systemKnowledge in human resources and job placement/recruitmentKnowledge of building long-term business relationships with industrial companiesDaily rate per working day (price)The points score of the daily rate is calculated according to the following formula:Maximum number of points to be awarded - (maximum number of points to be awarded / (lowest price x factor 2 - lowest price) x difference from the lowest price.Scope of Services:Possible start of performance is from 02.09.2024 (depending on the success of the application)Implementation period is from approx. 02.09.2024 to 30.11.2025Up to 100 service days will be awarded.The place of performance is South Africa.Submission of application:Please send your application documents including CV and cover letter stating your daily rate per working day under the title "technical expert South Africa" to ****** latest by 31.08.2024.
