COMPANY INTRODUCTION:
Since 1959, the company has been a leading Shipchandler and supplier of reliable supply chain solutions in Africa.
The Technical Trader will report to the Technical Operations Manager in South Africa and will be responsible for efficiently managing and processing all technical enquiries from sourcing through to delivery.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive and analyse enquiries received from clients (specification matching, etc.)
Strategic sourcing of suppliers & products (locally and internationally) via our database, market research, Internet, etc.
Get all the necessary information including logistical requirements to be able to quote the client, utilising margins and foreign exchange conversion. Preparation of commercial proposals for clients.
Follow up on quotations done to secure orders, manage all queries and negotiate with clients.
Place and administer orders & liaise with related departments as required for end-to-end delivery including administrative (Logistics, Warehouse, Finance, etc).
Engage in regular commercial activity to retain existing relationships and establish new ones within the industry – local & international travel may be required (Supplier & Client visits).
Reporting on Profitability per Job and for the department, along with other commercial reporting requirements.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualification and Experience:
Tertiary Qualification (E.g. BCom.)
5+ Year experience in a similar role and industry (Energy / Mining / Construction)
Proven experience in international sourcing
Minimum Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication and writing skills
Proven record of high-level negotiating skills
Able to multitask, plan and organise
Must have strong commercial awareness
Must be able to adapt and show flexibility
Strong problem-solving and solution-driven ability
Fully computer literate
Fluent in English (French will be a distinct advantage)
Willing and able to travel extensively in and outside of South Africa
