Technical Trader/BuyerOur client, a leading supplier of goods and services to a wide spectrum of industries in South Africa and other African countries, wants to appoint a Technical Trader/Buyer who will be responsible for efficiently managing and processing all technical enquiries from sourcing through to delivery and invoicing to the customer. The person will follow up on all potential business activity in the company's territories to grow this activity within the Group of companies. This will be achieved through market analysis, commercial actions, and related vendor negotiations. The successful candidate should both be technically and commercially minded and eager to work in the field/on the ground to find these new up-stream potential clients.Successful candidates should have experience in buying and selling technical products ranging from spare parts to advanced technical equipment and machinery. Previous experience working with African countries will be beneficial.Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:Receive and analyse enquiries from clients (specification matching, etc.)Strategic sourcing of suppliers & products (locally and internationally) via our database, market research, Internet, etc.Gather all necessary information including logistical requirements to quote the client utilizing margins and foreign exchange conversion. Prepare commercial proposals for clients.Follow up on quotations to secure orders, manage all queries, and negotiate with clients.Place and administer orders & liaise with related departments as required for end-to-end delivery including administrative (Logistics, Warehouse, Finance, etc.).Regular commercial activity to retain existing relationships and establish new relationships within the industry – local & international travel may be required (Supplier & Client visits).Reporting on profitability per job and for department, along with other commercial reporting requirements.Any other duty that is reasonable and relevant to this position.Desired Experience & QualificationCommunication: English speaking with excellent written skills.French speaking will be beneficial, but not essential.Multitasking, organizing.International sourcing.Adaptability & flexibility.Problem solving & solutions driven.RequirementsTertiary Qualification (e.g. B Com or National Diploma, or similar).5+ years experience as a Trader Buyer in Oil and Gas, Mining, Construction, Renewable Energy, Plant and Machine Hire, and General Procurement.Knowledge of procuring products such as spare parts, raw materials such as steel, steel pipes, valves, lifting equipment, yellow machinery and plant hire, forklifts, other technical equipment, consumables, PPE (protective wear and equipment), etc.Ability to travel domestically & internationally.Package & RemunerationR30 000 up to R60 000 per month depending on experience and potential, plus incentives on sales.
