Mining Company with HO in Melrose Arch is seeking to employ a Technical Specialist to join their ever-growing team.ResponsibilitiesContract Management: Manage coal purchase and supply contracts to ensure compliance with technical specifications. Contribute to the establishment of the technical scope of work during contract inception based on buyer or end-user requirements.Quality Management: Develop Comprehensive Quality Management Plans (CQMP) for procurement and coal supply contracts. Audit performance against CQMP and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Regularly engage laboratories for quality testing and validation, and include recommendations for quality improvement. Conduct quality audits and site visits to ensure process compliance and identify improvement opportunities. Ensure work performed in plants adheres to quality and safety standards for Nasonti Coal (Resources). Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and coordinate corrective actions response for deviations. Maintain a database of quality metrics for all sourced and beneficiated coal products. Ensure adherence to the quality assurance budget. Coach staff on quality requirements and best practices.Process Improvement and New Projects: Utilize metallurgical expertise for product improvements and processing method developments. Develop quality-related scopes of work for new projects. Support sites with new source testing and procedure establishment. Provide guidance, awareness, training, and solutions to ensure quality metallurgical outputs. Through Standard Operating Procedures, ensure all metallurgical projects are technically correct with regards to design, quality, operability, and optimal functionality.Finance: Monitor costs or expenses to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste. Explore and highlight opportunities for cost reduction - make recommendations on the most cost-effective way to perform work and to streamline processes. Analyze information to identify trends, discrepancies, and inconsistencies for decision-making purposes; generate required reports. Use systems optimally for data management and give input for system improvement and streamlining. Ensure financial documentation is maintained to support accurate record keeping and future requirements as per legislation.Stakeholder Relationships: Work collaboratively with colleagues, build sound relationships, and ensure good communications. Ensure knowledge and advice is technically accurate and provide stakeholders with relevant information to keep them informed. Ensure timeous resolution of queries and complaints and take ownership of issues.People: Ensure conflict resolution and respond to any complaints or concerns. Support skills development and transfer initiatives. Participate in creating toolkits and training materials that will support building a steady skills pipeline. Identify and participate in planned activities that are appropriate for own development. Ensure knowledge transfer amongst peers. Display and encourage an appreciation of teamwork and inclusivity.Reporting: Report to production managers, addressing non-conformances and providing feedback on customer complaints. Develop and deliver technical reports and performance reports on the quality of products sold. Develop proposals and justifications for transitioning to specific product supplies.Minimum RequirementsMinimum of 3 years of experience working as a process metallurgist for a mining company.Valid driver's license.Distribution experience and knowledge of logistics principles.
