Job Purpose: The primary function of this role is to service a sales pipeline of opportunities and to convert those opportunities into sales growth for the company's Flotation products within the African market.
The Flotation Technical Process Sales Engineer is responsible to work within the provided strategies for sustainable growth within the region and to develop and exploit various sales channels.
This includes direct selling to end-users, OEM's and EPC's, managing and retaining relationships with existing clients and supporting representative agents across the region, and leveraging Eriez' capabilities to provide technical services and test work to support existing and new applications.
Technical Sales Engineer (Process) is a brand ambassador for Eriez Flotation products in the areas we serve. Key Responsibilities: Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Ensure compliance with Eriez/ Client SHEQ responsibilities Comply with statutory legislation requirements Business Development Identify opportunities, build and maintain a strong sales pipeline to achieve sales growth Convert opportunities into orders through solution-based sales and relationship selling Prepare, deliver and present detailed technical and commercial sales/product bids and proposals Sales Channels Support representative agents within the region to maintain key accounts Leverage site technical services to promote aftermarket sales Strategic Identify key opportunities and coordinate Eriez resources to address them Contribute to the preparation of and attend trade shows & conferences as required Working with the Flotation Manager to determine sales budget by product segment and/or by territory Organization Product and application champion for Columns, HydroFloat, StackCell and Sparging Systems Manage lists of opportunities, accounts and targets, and plan and prioritize to grow business within Africa Plan to achieve 40-50% customer face/contact time targets as defined by the agreed KPI's Reporting Contribute to periodic sales meetings by summarizing sales opportunities, market analysis and competitor analysis to the Flotation Manager Complete technical reports to summarize flotation testing results, flowsheet and treatment techniques, and equipment sizing to drive sales opportunities Update status of projects and opportunities in Customer Relations Management and communicate as required Compile reports as needed Process Act as liaison with customers and agents to determine proper applications of Eriez Flotation equipment to suit customer needs and solve technical problems Responsible for planning and conducting on-site or laboratory-based testing programs, including data analysis and reporting Lead development of both technical and commercial proposals including estimating budgets and presenting proposals to clients Champion client projects internally from concept to delivery, ensuring successful handover to Engineering & Project Management after the order, and to the Client at completion. Document and disseminate product improvements or knowledge gained from field experiences to promote Continuous Improvement of Eriez Products and Services Effective trouble shooting and Root Cause Analysis in case of systems, processing, and equipment deviations Requirements BSc/BTech in Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering or in related field in Minerals Engineering/ Processing is required (NQF level 7) Postgraduate Degree will be beneficial Minimum 5 years' experience in Mineral Processing environment comprising one or more of the following: Process engineering/metallurgical engineering in support of mineral processing operations (+5 years required) Equipment sales, including developing solutions and implementing them in the field (beneficial) Commissioning experience (beneficial) Froth flotation experience - laboratory, pilot plant and industrial plant (required) Field services and training to mining industry clients (beneficial) Key Skills Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems Demonstrate drive for continuous improvement Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects on track Familiar with a variety of field concepts (especially flotation), practices, and procedures Good understanding of equipment design and selection principles Ability to successfully manage major accounts by confidently interacting at senior and lower levels Ability to prioritise workload, set and achieve agreed sales targets and meet deadlines Must be well organized, able to plan and justify travel in and around the region Committed to continuous education and willing to accept mentoring and critical feedback Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including confidence in giving presentations Self-motivated, with a capacity to work independently and collaboratively Fully competent in MS Office products Outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal skills, and able to work closely with customers including in a training environment Experience with a CRM system advantageous
