Few & Far, Luvhondo, Limpopo Technical Manager (Please only apply if you have the relevant experience & qualifications)Position Description:Manages all Technical aspects of the Cableway, Tourist lodge and Wood processing plant, including but not limited to:Asset Reliability and Lifecycle managementLegal compliance of the Plant and Operations to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the associated regulations and standards applicable to the full scope of equipment under your care. You will be legally appointed as the GMR 2(1) – Supervisor of Machinery as per the General Machinery RegulationsFinancial management – budget forecast & control, procurement, inventoryManagement of multi-disciplinary teams ranging from general machinery operators to Technicians, including HR functions. Education and QualificationsTrade tested Mechanical Fitter, or Electrician, or Electro-Mechanician (Millwright) with at least 5 years of documented post-qualification experience in the operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipmentOREngineering Diploma (T3 or N5 or higher) in Mechanical or Electrical (or similar) disciplines with at least 2 years of documented post-qualification experience in the operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipmentNOTE: regardless of qualifications and experience, the Chief Inspector of the Department of Education and Labour (DoEL) retains the right to further interview and reject a candidate from being appointed as the Machinery Supervisor for Aerial Ropeways, and as such it is crucial that qualifications and experience are presented accurately upon application for this positionA thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act No85 of 1993 and the associated regulations will be required by the Chief Inspector of the DoEL, specifically but not limited to: General Safety Regulations, General Machinery Regulations, Driven Machinery Regulations, Electrical Machinery Regulations, Electrical Installation Regulations, Construction Regulations, Pressure Equipment Regulations, Environmental Regulations, Facilities Regulations, and associated standards ie SANS10142.IWH Certified Fall Arrest and Rescue Technician. Advanced and site-specific training will be provided by the company, but the following pre-requisites apply: candidates must be able to pass specific medical exam (no vertigo, not afraid of heights, no blood pressure problems, no epilepsy or neuro-muscular conditions, no cardiac conditions, no balance issues), must be physically fit and strong to perform work at heights with heavy equipment.ExperienceSupervisory experience for Electro-mechanical equipmentSupervisory experience for multi-disciplinary teamsSkilled in Project ManagementPhysical maintenance of general Mechanical Equipment: belt drives, chain drives, gearboxes, shafts, bearings, structural machine components, hydraulics and pneumatics, steel wire ropes, lubrication, fasteners, basic vehicle maintenancePhysical maintenance of Electrical and Control Equipment: electric motors, cabling and connectors, circuit protection devices, logic controllers, power sources (including batteries, inverters and generators), transformers, switchgear, emergency circuits, sensors and switches, data acquisition. Effective use of hand tools, powertools, measuring devices.Skilled in systematic troubleshootingComfortable reading mechanical drawings, performing systematic fault-finding and troubleshooting based on drawings, manuals and logic.Experience using lifting, rigging and Fall Arrest equipment will be highly advantageousExperience in steel wire rope drives, ie hoist winders and winches, chairlifts etc will be highly advantageousExperience in executing and managing general facilities maintenance tasks and projects: building, painting, tiling, carpentry, roofing and waterproofing, air-conditioning, domestic wiring, welding, plumbing & piping, excavations etc. AttributesTake initiative – be comfortable and able to make sensible decisions based on qualifications, experience and applicable regulations, even in the absence of detailed guidance by superiors. Lead by example – must present high quality of work, good work ethics and willingness to get your hands dirty.
