The Role: We are currently seeking a seasoned Technical Manager to join our client's dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all technical aspects of our extensive product portfolio, ensuring adherence to the rigorous standards set by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This is a unique opportunity to spearhead technical operations, foster strong relationships with our dealer networks and customers, and drive the continued success of our technical services. Start Date: 1 June 2024 – or earliest available date based on notice period. Remuneration: Competitive salary package up to R70k Cost to Company (CTC) based on qualifications and experience. Additional Benefits: Generous vacation allowance, Free parking, etc. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred. 15-20 years of progressively responsible experience in technical roles, with at least 5-10 years in a management capacity. Proven technical expertise in marine engines and ancillary products, aligned with industry standards and practices. Strong leadership qualities with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop a technical team. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering effective relationships with internal teams, dealers, and customers. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team and independently when necessary. Highly motivated and results-oriented individual with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the primary technical expert on all products sold by the business, specialising in marine engines and ancillary products. Uphold and enforce the standards of equipment, aftermarket sales, maintenance, and servicing as stipulated by OEMs. Foster and maintain high standards of relationship and service with our dealer and technical services networks. Collaborate closely with sales engineers to support pre-sales activities, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with customer needs. Engage directly with customers to provide technical support and ensure their satisfaction with our products and services. Administer engine-related activities including service contracts, service campaigns, and warranty claims. Contribute actively as a member of the management team, providing strategic insights and operational guidance. Demonstrate strong administration skills to manage technical documentation, compliance, and reporting requirements.
