Tech / N. Dip - Chemical or Mechanical or 5-7 years' experience in a product technical position in the petroleum industry Knowledge of Mining, Engineering industry, OEMs and petroleum products (TotalEnergies and Competitors), renewables, additives, oils, lube manufacturing plants and depots Exposure to negotiations, investigations and presentations regarding product claims, quality audits, technical product training, etc.
Experience in managing technical staff and good communication skills.
Technical support for petroleum products marketed by the company: Act as sole custodian to products into the mining segment with TotalEnergies Group, local service providers, ensuring that international and local standards are strictly adhered to, and product quality and integrity is maintained.
Develop new specialized products, with the assistance of the TotalEnergies Group, to meet the requirements of local customers and stakeholders.
Lead the process of implementing TotalEnergies Group strategies, approved by TM SA management, regarding fuels and lubricants (e.g.
fuel-efficient lubricants and fuels, new technology products, clean fuels, performance enhancing fuel additives, introduction of Biofuels, etc.).
Ensure that TotalEnergies sales staff and key customers are well trained on TotalEnergies products, thereby contributing to the achievement of the sales objectives for each product.
Represent the company in various technical forums and interactions with authorities.
Manage Technical Fuel Specialists, Technical Advisors and Tribologists, ensuring that they provide specialist technical support through which the company's expertise in the field of fuels and lubricants is constantly advanced, its customer base broadened, and its sales boosted.
Negotiate on behalf of TotalEnergies on product claims arising from possible misapplications/quality shortcomings to determine company liability and recommend/reject the settlement of such claims.
Address all technical issues relating to quality, product waivers, customer queries, equipment failures, technical surveys and formulations.
Ensure that through the Technical Fuel Specialists, Technical Advisors and Tribologists, meaningful contributions are made towards ensuring that contractual obligations of the mining division are met through the successful implementation of continuous improvement projects.
Ensure that all other marketing divisions receive the necessary technical support to contribute to meeting their objectives.
HSEQ: Ensure constant adherence and compliance to company HSEQ and security standards, local by-laws, standards and legislation to minimize all risk pertaining to company assets and protection of life.
Effectively manage and minimize HSE risk within area of responsibility by ensuring: Compliance with all HSE Policies, rules, guidelines and legal requirements.
Promotion of a safe working environment and positively contributing to the company HSE KPIs and risk reduction strategies.
That HSE competency requirements are identified & enforced within area of responsibility.
People Management: Effectively manage employees by applying the company people management principles and develop, coach, mentor subordinates to promote a positive working environment, which will attract and retain skilled staff and increase productivity.
Governance: Ensure effective risk management and internal control, including asset management, for area of responsibility.
Management of quality and performance of all petroleum products marketed by TotalEnergies in South Africa.
This function involves providing input in the research and development of new products, ensuring that the production, storage, transportation and usage of these products are within the approved specification as approved by the TotalEnergies Group.
