Company DescriptionDe Beers Technology De Beers Technology has operations in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa and is part of the De Beers Group.
We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the De Beers Diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery.
Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance.
We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations.
We are the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally.
The Company has an excellent record in successful project delivery which with over 140 projects delivered in the last 22 years focused on the establishment and development of a fleet of sampling and mining ships and all associated equipment.
On the base of this successful track record, we have a strategic intention to expand our project offering to De Beers land-based operations.
Job DescriptionThis role reports into the Commercial Services Department
To meet the purchasing needs of the Company with specific focus on the technical requirements.
Your role will:
Financial EffectivenessParticipate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures.Operational ExcellenceInterpret mechanical and technical drawings to ensure correct purchasing of equipment.Manage and expedite the delivery of goods and services, including confirming receipt of purchase orders with vendors, expediting pre-delivery and overdue purchase orders, monitoring the progress of purchase orders closely and addressing potential delays before they impact the delivery timelines.Internal Business ProcessesEnsure adherence to good corporate governance, effective purchasing processes, supplier development and relationship management in accordance with company policies and procedures.Manage vendor onboarding process for respective area of influence.Safety, Health, Security and Environmental EffectivenessAdhere to and promote applicable legislation, company safety, security and environmental policies, procedures, goals and objectives.Customer and StakeholdersExecute duties within the role, visibly portraying the Company values, whilst building sound relationships with colleagues, clients and all other stakeholders.Closing Date: 20 January 2025 QualificationsFormal qualifications: National Diploma or Degree in Purchasing/Supply Chain/EngineeringMember of accredited body – CIPS (would be an advantage)Engineering trade qualification would be advantageousAdditional requirements: 5 years' experience in technical purchasing in an engineering / technical environmentSAP MM ERP system is a requirementContract Management and Supplier engagement experienceAbility to utilize latest technology (Microsoft packages/ EB/ Windchill)Exposure to B-BBEE requirementsCustoms and logistics experience advantageousAdditional InformationWho we are: De Beers Group is a company with a sparkling future.
