My client is looking for a talented Technical Author to join their team based at their head office, just outside of Liverpool. As an experienced Technical Author, your role will be to create dynamic content detailing the organisation's IT systems, designed to enhance user experience, and streamline support. Outputs will be tailored for both technical and non-technical personnel spanning all departments.

Key Responsibilities: Research, write, and edit a range of outputs, such as video tutorials, user guides, technical specifications, training materials, illustrations, policies, and proposals. Attend meetings to gain an understanding of requirements and deadlines to ensure documentation is correct and timely. Evaluate documentation requirements and propose changes where necessary to ensure requests achieve the desired outcome. Work closely with subject matter experts to verify the accuracy of documentation and incorporate their feedback. Write and distribute technical communications, such as release notes, incident updates, awareness campaigns, and change announcements. Maintain and expand documentation across various platforms, such as knowledge bases, self-service portals, and online help. Review, test, and edit documentation produced by colleagues, including other technical authors. Assist in the research and evaluation of tools and methods that support the improvement of documentation and knowledge-capture capabilities. Collaborate with translators to ensure content is translated correctly in multiple languages. Foster and promote a knowledge-sharing culture that encourages contributions from colleagues. Undertake other duties of an appropriate nature under the direction of the Line Manager. Essential Experience: Knowledge of information gathering, planning, and organising methods and principles. Strong understanding of document formatting and presentation techniques. Knowledge of how to write and adapt content for specific target groups. At least 1-3 years experience of working as a Technical Author. Hands-on technical writing and editing experience, with specific experience in documenting information technology software and systems. Excellent English, both written and spoken. Excellent analytical skills and experience documenting user manuals and how-to guides. Strong organisational skills, capable of managing and prioritising workload and working to tight deadlines. Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects within your project timeframes, in a fast-paced environment. Clear and concise writing style, with a flair for converting technical subjects into easily understood text. Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Required Qualifications: Degree in English, Communications or Journalism (2:1 or above). A background in technology is desirable. This role may involve travel to both UK and overseas sites.
