We are a custom moulder in rigid plastics. We started supplying rigid plastic articles to the South African market in 1972. From humble beginnings, the company has grown into one of the leading players in our industry. This company has been listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange since 1987. Our customers include a wide range of South African national companies.We are currently in the process of recruiting for a Setter ISBM. This role is to ensure production equipment is in good operating conditions and well maintained. Ensure correct setting of machine. Do fault analysis in case of malfunction or rejects.Responsibilities include:TechnicalIdentify, report and rectify all technical areas of concern on assigned production equipment (machines, moulds, etc.)Have an in-depth understanding of:Product and its quality criteriaProcess (material feeding and drying, injection moulding, reheat stretch blow moulding and injection blow moulding)General knowledge of all equipment, detailed for assigned equipmentMould installationTechnical principles and drawings (e.g. assemblies and spare part finding, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric)Fault analysis and problem solvingIndependently do fault analysis and problem solving in case of (teamwork as needed)Product quality issuesMould issuesMachine malfunction (mechanic / hydraulic / pneumatic / electric)Recognize and report problems to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager on other than the assigned equipmentMaintenanceIndependently develop maintenance plans and check lists (teamwork as needed)Ensure maintenance is done at required intervals according to the plansBy yourselfBy service suppliers as agreed by Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerDocument maintenance according to the plansSparesIdentify spares needed for assigned equipmentIn generalAs a preventative measure identified during maintenance checksMachine SettingOptimization of the production process, setting the machine for optimal performance and cycle timeEnsure that the process integrity is optimal for each run, if not amend and record new process settingDocument settings as per standard practice at the facilityManagementLiaise with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager (in charge) to ensure machine availability vs. major maintenance intervalsHave an overview of what needs to be done and report to Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerGive completion dates and fulfill tasks required by Maintenance Manager & Production ManagerEnsure sound relationships and communication with internal work-related staff (QC, Production, etc.) and external (Bowler Plastics Toolroom, Technical department, suppliers, etc.)Strive for improvement, research and make suggestionsAdministration (job)Log jobs performedAnalyze Defect Register together with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to improve production resultContact external suppliers as agreed with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to assist in solving problems (quotes on service, spare parts, etc.)SparesHave an overview of existing stock for equipmentSpare part analysis (= keep stock vs. source at breakdown)Likelihood of wear/breakage vs. cost vs. delivery timeReport parts needed to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager and assist in decision to have on stock or source at breakdownAssist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager in ordering process (e.g. prepare documents, follow up on orders)Plan for the year ahead, assist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager with work on budget for maintenanceHealth & SafetyEnsure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to Health and safety requirements.Maintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility (e.g. ensure cleanliness assigned machines and areas)Work safely and report on safety hazards or issuesReport any accidents, incidents and near missesQualityApply the company's quality principles and standardsMaintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Food Safety System Certification (FSSC)Food safety standards are site specific and at these sites employees should:Apply the site's food safety principles and standardsReport any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/ManagerComply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Company's FSMS (Food Safety Management System)Self-Development, Growth and TrainingRealistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses, if any that hinders the fulfilment of your objectivesKeep abreast of innovation and technical improvements for further self-development and the development of the companyKeep contact to your key suppliers and discuss with themRead operator manuals of machinesRead literature that has to do with your position (e.g. on the internet, Google, etc.)Teamwork and co-operationSelf-ManagementLeadership and interpersonal relationshipProduct and service qualityGeneralPerform additional tasks as required from time to timeEnsure team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not availableInform yourself about and apply the company's principles and standardsSet an example, be a role model for your team and others in the way you work and behaveJOB EVALUATION CRITERIAA) Knowledge and SkillsSecondary Education -
