Technical Assistant: Electrical Kathu Operations (Pty)Ltd , Northern Cape Main Responsibilities include:Assist with the enforcement of HSE and Quality policies and procedures, ensuring that all HSE measures and precautions are strictly considered during maintenance activities to avoid incidents.Take ownership of plant equipment to reduce downtime and ensure high Plant availability at a minimum cost.Assist the electrician with site preparation, maintaining site tidiness, and other tasks as directed.Assist technicians in executing day-to-day maintenance activities according to CMMS notifications.Perform tasks as directed by Technicians/Engineers, including installations, inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment.Assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, unloading deliveries, and general support for technicians.Identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repairs to ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations.Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with tasks and projects assigned to the electrical maintenance department.Assist with troubleshooting activities to determine failure causes and rectify defects.Report all jobs carried out to Engineers/Technicians and record them in PM/Maximo.Participate in scheduled plant shutdowns and turnarounds.Adhere to Engie Safety rules and promote occupational health and safety standards in accordance with the OHS Act of 1996. Qualifications & ExperienceGrade 12 (with maths and science)/technical studies (electrical).N2 Electrical Studies.A valid driver's license. Experience:At least 1-2 years experience in relevant trade or post-trade test completion of an apprenticeship/learnership programme/internship.Low to medium voltage practical experience.Exposure to fundamental electrical wiring standards, equipment operation, and testing.Understanding of electrical testing instruments and methods.Power tools understanding and accurate usage.Strong Electrical aptitude with a basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity, and mathematics.Experience working at heights, in confined spaces, or with hazardous material.Behavioral:Good command of oral and written English.Highly proactive and self-motivated.Good interpersonal skills.Ability to think clearly and respond calmly in emergency situations.Excellent organizational skills.Demonstrates skills in the use of tools, test equipment, and calibration appliances.Working knowledge of Environmental Regulations as they pertain to operations and maintenance of an energy generating facility.Ability to perform First Aid and CPR. Additional InformationHighly proactive and self-motivated, capable of handling multiple tasks.Team player with good interpersonal skills for subordinate development and conflict resolution.Good knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance principles.Proficient with Microsoft software and SAP-PM/Maximo.Able to write technical reports and procedures.Good command of oral and written English.Setting clear direction and priorities and gaining support of others.Excellent computer literacy is required.
