Main purpose of the job:To lead, co-ordinate and manage the Wits RHI Paediatric and adolescent clinical programme activities within the districtTo provide technical support to both internal and external stakeholders with regards to clinical careTo develop and effectively manage relationships with district and sub-district stakeholdersLocation:Pretoria - TshwaneKey performance areas:Contribute to and support implementation of a comprehensive, data-driven approach for the paediatric and adolescent HIV programmeConduct site visits to provide on-site technical support, mentoring and to evaluate progress on implementation plansIdentify areas in the health care system that need to be strengthened - to develop effective mitigation plans in collaboration with other internal teams and the DoHCollaborate with other specialist teams and stakeholders at the Institute to review, develop new or revise existing strategies based on programme outputsProvide technical expertise at internal as well as external (DOH, donor and other stakeholder) meetingsCoordinate project activities with external agencies such as public health, NGO partners, regulatory bodies, donor monitoring and auditing agencies and others, as necessaryDevelop project tools such as SOP's, tools, and technical guidelines and contribute to the development of other program documents as requiredIdentify training needs of the project team and DoH counterpartsLiaise with the Wits RHI Training Department and DoH RTC to address training needsSupport the training and mentoring of clinical cadres in technical areas relevant to paediatric and adolescent HIV Care and TreatmentSupport undergraduate clinical training in child and adolescent HIV, in alignment with programmatic implementation where requiredContribute to project reports and disseminate to internal and external stakeholders on an on-going basisContribute to the development of technical publications and other programme resourcesClose communication with the Wits RHI M&E team to ensure adequate and regular reporting on key project indicatorsProvide clinical care and consultation support for the management of complicated (ACC) clinical casesMaintain clinical expertise in the field of paediatric HIV care and treatment through CPD and engagement with the latest literature and program updatesProvide technical support on HIV care and treatment to the district-based teams and other RHI stakeholders regarding the area of expertiseAttend to all staffing requirements and administrationSupervise and manage the duties of subordinates to ensure optimal staff utilization and maintenance of sound labour relationsPerform and facilitate performance development and assessmentsIdentify substandard performance by team members and take necessary corrective actionCoach and train subordinates and team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organizationPromote harmony, teamwork and sharing of informationTake ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-managementFollow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintainedMaintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedbackTake ownership for driving own career development by participating in on-going training and development activities such as forums, conferences, policy setting workshops, etc.Carry out ad hoc tasks when the need arises and/or as the project demandsRequired minimum education and training:MBBCh Degree or equivalentRegistered as Independent Medical Practitioner Required minimum work experience:3 -
