Purpose of Position:The TB Accountability Consortium (An Independent Contractor of our client, Wits Health Consortium) seeks to appoint a TB Consultant to support the Civil Society Forum with the development of a National and Provincial Tuberculosis Advocacy StrategiesBackground:South Arica has made some progress towards reaching the END TB goals with TB incidence reduced by 54% since 2015 (reaching 2025 milestone)However, TB mortality is high and unchanged over several yearsThe current trajectory is unlikely to see South Africa reaching a 90% reduction in TB incidence rate and 95% reduction in TB mortality by 2035Modelling suggests that the country will need to massively scale TB testing to accelerate reductions in TB incidence and mortalityLocation:Remotely based with travelling on a regular basis to KwaZulu Natal, Western Cape and Johannesburg for workshops Educational and Work Requirements:Master's Degree in Public Health, Public Policy or related field5 - 10 years related experienceTB Strategic Plan (2023 - 2028):The South African National Department of Health has implemented TB Recovery Plans over the last three years to address the COVID-19 related declines in TB diagnosis and treatment and the subsequent up-tick in TB incidence and mortalityA subsequent 5- year strategic plan (aligned to the National Strategic Plan for HIV, TB and STIs 2023-2028) articulates the approach for 2023-2028.
