Job Description: The organisation is looking for a permanent employee to join our drawing office. The successful candidate will be part of the team tasked with the design and production drawings for all systems related aspects on our yachts. The work ranges from systems schematics, engine room design, drive train arrangement, electric system installation, pipe run optimization, etc.
Mandatory Requirement The applicant must hold SA citizenship, permanent residency or another form of accepted work visa. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Regularly reporting to the Drawing Office Supervisor, the successful incumbent will:Be in close relation with Technical CoordinatorTake into account specifications and keep updated on rules and regulationsBe a force of proposals to decision makersProduce 3D models of systems on board (i.e. engine room, wires, pipes, drains, AC..) using SolidWorksUse 3D models to check interaction with interior and structureProduce 2D production drawingsLiaise with sub-contractors and designers to ensure design integrationCORE COMPETENCIES, ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS and PREFERENCES Educational:
BEng / BSc Engineering degree. Experience in yacht industry is a very strong plus.
Experience/Technical:
5+ years' experience working in mechanical systems. Experience in the marine industry is a very strong plus. Experience in 3D parametric modeling (SolidWorks or equivalent) and 2D drawings (Autocad or equivalent) is required. Practical sailing experience is a plus.
Personal:
Team spirit, challenge yourself, force of proposal, capable of adapting easily to different requests, environments and situations, attentive to details, open mind, questioning yourself, creative, orderly and reactive. Able to work in a multicultural environment and respect deadlines. Able to work overtime if required.
