Key ResponsibilitiesAdhere to safety procedures and participate in safety initiatives.Design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain MES solutions according to functional and technical specifications while applying set standards and processes.Manage the operation of MES Systems in allocated areas to ensure maximum service levels.Obtain knowledge of plant and business processes in allocated areas of responsibility.Participate in forums or working groups as required.Apply corporate and departmental standards, policies, and rules during MES Systems software development.Strive to deliver high quality, reusable, and maintainable software within allocated timeframes.Maintain understanding of current best practices, trends, and events in software development.Provide callout service including scheduled 24/7 standby as part of the team.Manage change and incident resolution.Attend information management, project-related, and other meetings as required.Create documentation such as design documentation, training manuals, and functional specifications.Troubleshoot, monitor, and report on status.Estimate and plan own tasks.QualificationsNational Diploma (NQF 6/10) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Science.Experience and RequirementsMinimum 18 months experience in most of the following software technologies/skills:
.NET development (VB.NET, ASP.NET, or .NET CORE)Visual StudioWeb development (HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Entity Framework, Blazor)Database management via Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and/or SQL DeveloperDevelopment within Microsoft SQL database (T/SQL)Development within Oracle database (PL/SQL)Microsoft SQL Server Reporting ServicesBusiness ObjectsGIT Repository managementUnix and Windows operating systemsExperience in the following:
Business AnalysisSystem/Solutions AnalysisFull System Development Life Cycle including project scoping, solution design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenanceSystem Support, Incident Management, and Problem SolvingUnderstanding business processes related to Order Management, Planning, Scheduling, Production, Stock Management, Costing, and Financial systems in a manufacturing environment.Understanding system integration and inter-system communication.Exposure to Agile system development and project management processes.Knowledge of ITIL related to systems and processes.Ability to understand business processes from workflow diagrams and conceptualize them as automated solutions.Ability to read and interpret technical IT documents.Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively.Exposure to project management responsibilities such as work estimation and planning.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio).Personal AttributesMature personality with high emotional intelligence.Strong mathematical, analytical, and statistical analysis skills.Developed communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to accurately plan and execute assigned tasks.Exhibits confidence in self and others.Stakeholder involvement, relationship-building, and networking skills.Holistic approach to process innovation.Ability to function in multiple roles concurrently.Willingness to adapt and acquire new skills.Ability to function effectively without hands-on management.Ownership of tasks.Ability to work effectively in a group or individually.Proactive and results-driven.Passionate about technology and innovation.Ability to perform under pressure.Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.
