Key ResponsibilitiesAdherence to safety procedures and participation in safety initiatives.Design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, improve and maintain high quality, fit-for-purpose, reusable, and maintainable system solutions according to set standards and processes within the allocated time and with a minimum of rework.Hardware and system incident resolution according to set service level agreements.End-user support on relevant workstations.Troubleshooting, monitoring, and status reporting.Interact with the business, suppliers, and contractors as a technical advisor to discuss software solutions.Apply corporate and departmental standards, policies (testing, validation, change control, disaster recovery, and incident/problem management) and rules.Callout service including scheduled standby and after-hours support/escalation as and when required.Business and System/Solution Analysis.Project Management as and when required.Contribute and suggest innovative ways to improvise and modernize existing toolsets.Act as mentor to junior colleagues.Plant visits to discuss potential problem areas and solutions with engineers and management.Documentation such as Design Documentation, Training manuals, Functional specifications, and technical specifications.Attend production operational meetings/Change Advisory Board meetings and other meetings as and when required.Acquire knowledge of plant and/or business processes in allocated area of responsibility.Risk management to reduce the Risk Exposure for the company.Reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for ArcelorMittal South Africa.Drive Digital Transformation through the deployment of relevant technologies, challenging the status quo.QualificationsB-Degree (NQF 7/10) in Computer Science / Information Technology / Information ScienceExperience and RequirementsMinimum 2 years relevant experience in the development, integration, and support of information systems in a Production Automation, Manufacturing Execution, or similar environment.In-depth knowledge of and/or experience working with business application systems in various environments including logistics, laboratories, and production delays.Must be able to demonstrate successfully completed, value-adding software development projects.Skilled and experienced in some of the following software environments:Web development (API, Web Forms, Blazor, Bootstrap)Relevant experience in developing in Visual Studio (C#, VB, ASP)Development and design within a Microsoft SQL database environment (T/SQL)Git repository managementUnderstands the essentials of system integration and inter-system communication (API, Middleware, OPC, etc.)Personal AttributesStrong knowledge of the software development lifecycle.Strong people skills – effective facilitation, negotiation, and collaboration skills up, down, and across the organisation.Communicate effectively and with confidence at various levels of the organization, tailored appropriately to the audience.Analytical thinker and strong problem-solving skills.Passion for the steel manufacturing environment and desire to learn the processes applicable to central business applications.Passion for technology and innovation.Proactive, take initiative and are performance/results driven while requiring minimal guidance.Taking ownership of assigned areas of responsibility.Demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles.Ability to function effectively, both as an individual and within a team structure.Ability to concurrently fulfil multiple roles (Project Manager/Consultant/Developer).Ability to assimilate new knowledge and acquire and develop new skills.Maintain effectiveness under pressure in a continually evolving environment.Ability to read, interpret and create technical process flow and IT documents such as flow charts, database design documents and functional/technical specifications.Exhibits confidence in self and others.Excellence in planning and execution.Stakeholder involvement and networking skills.Strong service-oriented mindset.Motivational and leadership skills.Holistic approach to process innovation.Ability and desire to transfer knowledge.
