The Supervisor Health & Safety is accountable for partnering with Business Partners, operational leadership and their teams to assess the application, completeness and quality of operational health and safety management systems, processes, policies, procedures and standards.
The incumbent is responsible to collaboratively develop plans and interventions to ensure compliance with prescribed regulations, operational standards and campaigns to ensure optimal and sustainable application of the safety management system.
Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 qualification or equivalentBe in possession of a Degree/National Diploma in Health and Safety ManagementBe in possession of a Trade Certificate or a Blasting CertificateCompleted COMSOC 1 and 2 CertificationMust have at least 3 years appropriate trackless mining experienceAt least 15 years experience as a safety specialist with a flair for leading contractor safe work practiceRegistered with SACPCMP for construction safetyAudit qualifications as lead auditor for NOSA,OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001Traffic safety knowledgeTailing Storage Facility knowledge and environmental managementIn-depth knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)Be in possession of valid drivers license, Code 08 (EB)Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicants suitability for employment Key Competencies: Proven personal safety recordSound Interpersonal, collaboration and written & spoken English communicationEstablished team player with good influencing skillsWorking knowledge and application of Accident investigation processes (ICAM/R-CAT)Working knowledge and application Safety management systemsFamiliar with safety reporting standards and systems and ability to conduct intermediate safety audit and assuranceHave a good understanding of the ISO 45001:2018 Safety Management StandardComputer literate and competent in the use of the Microsoft Office SuiteProven diagnostic and problem-solving skills Duties and Responsibilities: Convene, lead and participate in various Safety meetings, forums and engagementsAttend Safety Department briefing and task activity sessions to represent area of accountability and act as a conduit for escalation and/or onward cascading of key Safety management initiativesParticipate in the development, planning and roll-out of various on-site safety initiatives, campaigns, etc.
