Overview
The purpose of the Strategy Leader is to facilitate the formulation of strategy for the Mining Segment by providing analytical support, strategic research, strategy insights, articulation, translation, and communication of strategic implementation - in support of the successful development and implementation of the Division's strategy, aligned with the overall Omnia Group Strategy, vision, and mission. Oversee the implementation of the business strategy through the PMO, ensuring project management disciplines are implemented including project prioritisation, budgets, plans, and resources. Regular reporting on progress and benefit realisation. Alignment of Executive KPI's to strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Science, Economics, Sciences, or a related field.
Chartered Accountant (CA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Masters in Business Administration or an equivalent business-related degree is advantageous.
CA would be desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 8 years of experience with over 3 years' industry experience.
Duties
Strategy Development and Reporting:
Facilitate the annual formulation of the three-year Mining Segment Strategy for Group Exco and Board consumption.
Drive the Mining Segment strategy process internationally, aligning to the Omnia business planning cycle and working closely with the Mining Segment Exco.
Produce BME MD reports, strategy papers, and presentations to Group Exco and Board.
Establish collaborative and trusting relationships with the business's key internal leaders and stakeholders to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and information across the business, leading to suitable strategy formulation and overall business performance enhancement.
Facilitate discussions on key strategic interventions through business meetings.
Preparation of various strategy documents, narratives, and presentations for Investor, Group, Board, and Financial Reporting cycles, including Quarterly Business Reviews.
Strategy Management and Strategic Initiatives:
Generate industry, market, and customer insights across all geographies, on an ongoing basis and as input into the strategy process.
Support the Regions with detailed regional and country-specific strategies, aligned to the overall BME strategy through proactive engagement.
Responsible for developing partnerships, strategic alliances, and associations whilst representing the company's views effectively.
Reviewing and revising existing strategies as needed based on changing conditions in the business environment.
Assist in driving the change management process, obtaining buy-in and acceptance of new projects being rolled out/systems being upgraded, new methodologies being implemented, etc.
Ongoing interface and engagement with Portfolio Management, participating in prioritisation and selection of strategic initiatives.
Participation in inorganic growth initiative.
Strategy Execution Monitoring:
Through the PMO function, which will report directly into this role, coordinate strategic initiatives designed to execute on the Division's overall strategy and collaborate through joint planning and review sessions.
Oversee cascading and communication of strategy across the business.
Ensure execution and review of strategic initiatives through monitoring targets/milestones and outcomes which must align to the overall Group Strategy.
Establish KPIs that the business will measure performance against and determine the effectiveness of the implemented strategies.
Work with business executives and stakeholders to evaluate overall performance against targets and adjust as necessary.
Monitor industry trends and analyze data to forecast future business impact, opportunities, or risks.
