The Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries – Norfund - invests to create jobs, improve lives, and support the transition to net zero. The fund is owned by The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will help to establish and grow viable and profitable businesses in developing countries, which would otherwise not be initiated due to high risk. About a third of the investment portfolio is in Renewable energy. Financial inclusion, Scalable enterprises in the agricultural and manufacturing industries and Green infrastructure are other prioritized investment areas. Norfund also manages the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund that aims to contribute to reducing or avoiding greenhouse gas emissions. Norfund is looking for a result-oriented Strategy AdvisorFor a temporary position based in Norfund's Oslo office we are looking for a Strategy Advisor to join our Strategy & Communications department. The right candidate has a keen interest in investments and private sector development in developing countries.
It is key that you enjoy working independently as well as part of a team and can be both a resource and sounding board for other team members. The position reports to Director Strategy & Impact in the Strategy & Communications department.
Norfund's Strategy & Communications department has a key role in strengthening Norfund as a centre of excellence for profitable and sustainable investments in developing countries. The department's areas of responsibility include understanding and measuring Norfund's impact, strategy development and support, stakeholder relations and communication.
This position will cover a wide range of the department's responsibilities and will support projects and deliverables across departments and levels. Key tasks will include: Follow-up on Norfund's overall strategyResource on strategic projectsPortfolio and market analysesPrepare presentations for internal and external stakeholdersThe successful candidate is analytical and driven, with an ability to independently work on larger and smaller tasks, including analyses and communication activities. Emphasis is placed on relevant academic background and experience, as well as personal fit.
Specific qualifications for this position: Master's degree in Business, Economics, Finance or equivalent with a strong academic record. Applicants with relevant experience combined with a Bachelor's degree will also be assessed.3+ years relevant work experienceExperience from consultancy or strategy advisory is an advantageExcellent quantitative and qualitative analytical and implementation skills, knowledge of Power BI is a plusAbility to present complicated issues in a simple and comprehensive way – solid experience with PowerPoint is requiredResult-oriented with ability to work independently and effectivelyEnjoy teamwork, both as project leader and team memberGood communication skills – English fluency is a must, and good understanding of Norwegian is an advantageKnowledge of development finance and insight into Norwegian and international development politics is an advantageDuration: 1 year (100%).
