About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for a Strata Control Officer to join our team.
The position supports the Shaft Rock Engineer in managing strata control challenges and maintaining safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities Conduct regular underground visits to monitor compliance with strata support standards and identify potential issues.
Perform rock engineering measurements and assist in the collection of data for plans and layouts.
Collaborate with Shift Supervisors to address operational needs and resolve problems.
Monitor underground conditions and report findings to the Shaft Rock Engineer.
Audit mining standards for support and pillar conformance.
Ensure legal compliance with rock engineering responsibilities, such as Codes of Practice.
Assist in investigating rock engineering-related incidents and accidents.
Provide training to operations personnel on strata control factors.
Maintain stability monitoring and testing of rock properties.
Support the Shaft Rock Engineer with risk assessments, reviews of mining layouts, and monthly reporting.
Requirements Qualifications and Experience Required : Matric (Grade 12) with Maths and Science.
Certificate in Strata Control.
1 year of experience in strata control for open-pit mining.
Adequate mining experience to fulfill the role effectively.
