Purpose of the Job
Manage category performance in order to maximize sales and profits while enhancing product value and customer experience, through focusing on forecasting, analysis, assortment management, promotion planning and assist in maintaining merchandise principles.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Planning & Management
Inventory focused analysis to help drive sales and optimize inventory (e.g. seasonality, generating forecast for new products, analysis of over-stocked lines).
Cost benefit analysis on bulk/volume purchases.
Analyze and action stock levels by store and category or department to ensure sufficient stock availability at branches.
Analyze and action stock holdings to ensure minimum over/under stock situations and never out of stock situations on Top Sellers.
Analyze and action stock ageing and reduce provisions on inventory.
Analyze and action discontinued stock to optimize stock holding.
Product Development & Vendor Management
Maintain ranges through annual range review ensuring development of complete ranges and phasing out of non-performing stock.
Analyze store and product clustering by means of gap analysis and range reviews.
Investigate new listings and make recommendations.
Develop knowledge of products and product ranges.
Stay well abreast of key inventory related information and effective preparation for meetings with key stakeholders.
Optimize Marketing and Merchandising
Assist in maximizing visibility and return on investment through integrative marketing plans/campaigns.
Assist in analyzing sales trends and buying habits in order to develop a category and marketing strategy (EDLP, KVI etc.).
Assist stores/merchandising team in maintaining high standard visual merchandise placement through providing Planograms.
Assist in marketing and roll out plans for new shop openings and events.
Administration
Monthly clean up and maintenance of master data.
Provide reports and requested information to management as needed.
Action the following stock reports:
PD/V1 Material per month se cat with SOH -0 (Maintain V1 levels with SOH = 0 below 3%, by branch and category).
SOH=0 and below ROP with no outstanding order.
MC.9 (Monitor and analyze excessive growth/decline in stock levels).
Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualification.
3 – 5 years' experience in inventory management.
