Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 3-year National Diploma/ B-Degree (equivalent or higher); A minimum of 1 year experience in accounting/ auditing/finance/supply chain management.
RecommendationA valid driving licence (code B or higher).
Key Performance AreasImplement the asset management system, including the establishment and implantation of the asset management unit and departmental policies and procedures; Develop and maintain the strategic and annual asset management plans aligned with the departmental strategy and budget, and in consultation with Public Works where applicable; Develop and maintain asset registers, including acquisitions, maintenance management, transfers and valuations; Develop asset needs assessment, acquisition management, operational and disposal plan and execute the asset verification, investigate and report on variances, make necessary recommendations to resolve discrepancies and update the asset register; develop implement and manage mechanism to safeguard assets, prepare monthly reconciliation with supporting schedules for the asset registers to the relevant accounting records and resolve uncleared items.
Prepare a business plan for the lifecycle of assets including an analysis of pricing options using lifecycle costs as well as recommendations on the most appropriate asset solution; Ensure compliance with relevant legislative, statutory, regulatory, and supervisory requirements towards the achievement of component projects and goal.
CompetenciesKnowledge of the following: Accounting; SCOA; PFMA;LOGIS; Asset management; Skills needed: Monitoring and evaluation methods, tools and techniques; Verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Analytical, planning and organising skills; Reliable, self-disciplined and dedicated.
RemunerationR per annum (Salary level 8).Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
NotesShortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting.
These candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests.
The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
