We are looking for an experienced SQL DBA to join an ambitious cloud provider to help manage and maintain their modern and complex SaaS, SQL, Azure, & Database estate.
Balancing delivery speed with service reliability, you'll play a crucial role in managing problems, deploying and monitoring services, and establishing software delivery pipelines using both SQL and the Microsoft Azure platform.
You will be tasked with the swift resolution of all data-related issues and will oversee application databases within the estate.
To succeed in this role, you will need the following:
Education: Grade 12 or equivalentDegree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant tertiary qualification.Cloud/Technology related certifications Experience: Expertise in SQL Server and Microsoft Azure cloud technologies.Expertise and experience monitoring Azure workspaces, VM's, VM drives, Memory etc.Experience in Windows and Linux operating system administration.Familiarity with Microsoft DevOps and PowerShell scripting.Experience with Postgres SQL will be a strong advantage.Expertise in utilizing IaaS and PaaS services, including database services and Kubernetes.Understanding of IP subnetting, Network Security Groups, routing, Azure Firewall, load balancing, DNS, and other networking concepts and protocols.Knowledge of relational and non-relational database technologies.Expertise and experience creating MS Visio diagrams as they relate to MS SQL and database design.Skills: Identify and evaluate new opportunities for technology innovation.Experience with Flowgear (advantageous)Any other integration technologies systems (advantageous)A self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.Handle multiple tasks, be flexible and deal with interruptions and constant change.A strong communicator to foster excellent professional relationships.Be able to co-ordinate the triage, identification and resolution of complex production and non-production issues. Responsibilities: Troubleshoot data-related issues, ensuring smooth business operations.Perform performance tuning and implement database backups for disaster recovery.Manage SQL Server Databases and develop databases for MI reporting.Ensuring all software is updated.Assist to define data retention policies and automation.Work with ISO27001 Compliance Team on issue reporting, resolution, and change control.Support and Troubleshooting – Assist Operations Team with any environment issues during application deployment across Development, QA, Staging, and Production environments.Assist other teams and customers with troubleshooting problems that may arise from applications or integration of various components.Create scripts for system integration, monitoring, and application data analysis.Deploy and manage virtual machines in highly available settings.Resolve third-line data-related tickets and troubleshoot infrastructure and network issues.Design and implement Azure data protection features, overseeing application architecture suitability.Manage communication with infrastructure partner teams.Create and manage virtual networks with high performance and security levels.Continuously improve cloud-based solutions and define best practices for deployment and maintenance while ensuring optimal application performance and uptime.
