Sql Developer ( 1 Year Fixed Term Contract)

NB: ALL CANDIDATES APPLYING MUST BE BASED IN CAPE TOWN.Overview:The Allan Gray Institutional development team is currently around 65 members, covering a range of skills and responsibilities including Domain Owners, Development Manager, Architects, Business Analysts, Developers (.NET and SQL) and IT Operations. This team is responsible for the systems that support Allan Gray's asset management function. The department is undergoing an exciting Transformation project and is looking for a SQL Developer to be part of this project. We are looking for a SQL Developer who is very detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently and is driven to produce quality.Responsibilities:Work as part of a larger IT team using the Scrum methodology to align with the strategic objective of the business.Develop integration solutions using SQL and other vendor integration tools (Markit EDM).Develop reporting solutions; write SQL stored procedures to manipulate the data supplied by the source system and prepare it for reporting.Design and create SSRS report definitions to present the data.Solid understanding of the SDLC.Develop and implement performant stored procedures and functions using T-SQL.Ability to interpret requirements and deliver timeously.Requirements:4-5 years SQL experience (stored procedures, UDFs, T-SQL, performance tuning and optimization, RDBMS, error handling and logging, etc.) is essential.Working experience of SSRS is essential.Working knowledge of SSAS would be advantageous.An understanding of dimensional databases would be advantageous.PostgreSQL experience would be advantageous.Skills & Competencies:Attention to detail and quality of work.Ability to take initiative and responsibility.Strong analytical skills.Good communication.Provide accurate estimates.Present solutions clearly.Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.Qualifications:Analytical degree or diploma is essential.Knowledge of financial concepts and terms advantageous.Financial Services industry experience would be an advantage.Location: Cape Town (hybrid environment)
