IntroductionTime Quantum, in a Joint Venture with Purple Blue Tecnologies, is in need of a specialist SQL DBA for a Pretoria-based Government department.Duties & ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure and maintain SQL Server 2019, 2017, 2014, 2012, 2008 and 2005 in development test, and production environments.Configure and maintain fall-over clustering using SQL Server 2019.Maintain server and database security.Install and configure SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).Develop and deploy different types of reports using different data sources like SQL Server, Excel, CSV Files, and Power BI.Configure and maintain replications, log shipping for high availability.Upgrade/migrate SQL Server instances/databases from older versions to new versions like 2000/2005 to 2008 R2 and 2008 R2 to 2012 up to 2019.Apply service pack hot fixes on SQL Server instances to address security and upgrade-related issues.Perform database and SQL/T-SQL performance tuning.Schedule jobs to automate different database related activities including backup, monitoring database health, disk space, and backup verification.Set up jobs and maintenance plans for backups, rebuilding indexes, check server health, alerts, and notifications.Create and manage different types of indexes (cluster/non-cluster) and constraints (unique/check).Develop SSIS packages from different sources like SQL Server, flat files, CSV, Excel, and many other data sources that support ODBC, OLEDB.Deploy SSIS packages to move data across servers, move logins, and load data from different sources.Set up jobs from SSIS packages.Use Import/Export tool to import & export data files from different sources like SQL Server database, flat files, Excel, and many other data sources that support ODBC, OLE DB.Set up manual and on-demand jobs for database backup.Design backup strategy.Deploy and restore databases.Log shipping configuration and database mirroring.Monitor server activity, error log, space usage, and solve problems as needed.Work on SCOM and SCCM to troubleshoot SQL Server and servers.Prepare Change Request Documentation.VMware: build virtual machines, allocate resources, install operating systems, give rights and permissions, add VM to the domain, and manage an AD account.Set up and configure AlwaysOn High Availability group.Desired Experience & QualificationApplicable SQL Certifications.More than 5 years' applicable experience in the duties and responsibilities listed for this role.Experience in AlwaysOn environments.Package & RemunerationComprehensive employment package will be negotiable based on applicable experience, qualifications, and prior earnings.Interested?If you are interested and capable of doing this job, please edit your CV to address the points listed under duties and responsibilities and send it to ******.
