Sourcing & Contracts Specialist

Job Description As the Sourcing and Contracts Specialist  you will be accountable for the management of category specific total cost of ownership benefits to ensure that business requirements are satisfied as well as lead, manage and own the category entire commercial value chain by influencing the strategic direction of sourcing vs outsourcing, optimisation models, choices of commercial processes, best practice methodologies and business applications.
More of your responsibilities will include: Staying abreast of category specific trends and develop business-aligned category strategy and plan Building and maintaining relationships, influence, and act as an expert in relation to the category across the organisation and external stakeholders whilst driving results through strategy implementation Working with sites and BUs to develop and manage high value site-based tenders, contracts and supplier relationships and support key negotiations on high value contracts.
Engage key stakeholders and agree the required level of support and outputs Identifying data sources and establish networks to generate ideas and opportunities for business improvement, in line with category strategy and plans Assessing, monitoring and managing potential supply risk associated within category Managing relationships with all key stakeholders (internal and external) to understand and deliver on their service needs and resolve issues optimally Prioritising, assessing, allocating resources and delegating on both short-term and long-term bases Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field (NQF Level 7) Experience & Knowledge Minimum of 5 years' experience in Category Management in the mining or manufacturing industry Good Experience in relation to procurement and commercial aspects of the specific category Experience in Procurement and Supply Chain systems Experience in business or project management, preferably in a mining environment Additional Information Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act; Protection of Personal Information Act or other related legislation Knowledge of Supply Codes of Practices, policies, and procedures Extensive knowledge of the BBBEE code of good practice and Mining charter Good knowledge f category management tools and their application, and is able to apply to medium projects Good knowledge of the principles of category management and have specialised knowledge in the following areas: Category management cycle Source-to-contract, including supplier negotiations Supplier Lifecycle Management Strong business knowledge of the value chain What we offer When you join Thungela, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package.
