A vacancy exists for Sonographer, who will be required to work at all hospitals in Mthatha, Eastern Cape on a rotational basis, reporting to the Head Radiographer, Leota Blignaut. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high quality service to both inpatients and outpatients.
This will include general ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, neurosonography, musculoskeletal system, obstetrics (first trimester), and gynecological ultrasound. The successful candidate will work as a member of the Radiology Department and multi-disciplinary teams, providing a high quality service to the patients in assigned areas in accordance with professional standards of practice.
Critical OutputsPerform Ultrasound procedures according to protocols.Maintain required standards of Ultrasound.Prepare patients for Ultrasound examinations or procedures for which they are scheduled.Prepare the room and equipment required before commencing ultrasound procedures.Produce accurate Ultrasound images and reports.Perform after-hours and weekend services as and when required.Participate in all staff meetings and briefings.Support and help with training of students, staff, and each other.Maintain acceptable levels of health and safety and report all deviations to management.Take part in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures where necessary.Report any equipment defects or problems either directly to the Line Manager or the dedicated QA personnel.Keep up to date with current techniques and developments in Ultrasound procedures and take part in in-service training as required.Maintain CPD compliance.Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and with non-radiographic staff, both in the radiology department and outside.Any other duties that may be required from time to time.RequirementsDegree in Diagnostic Ultrasound.Be registered with HPCSA.Compliant with CPD programs.Have at least 1 year's general diagnostic ultrasound experience.Able to perform general ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, neurosonography, musculoskeletal system, obstetrics (first trimester), and gynecological ultrasound.Both public and private healthcare experience will be considered.Ability to perform weekend work and work shifts.Own transport and a valid driver's license is essential.Ability to present findings to both medical and non-medical persons.CompetenciesProblem-solving/analysisPlanning & organisingPays attention to detailExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsResilienceVerbal & written communicationTeamworkCustomer responsivenessAttention to detailAbility to work under pressureBuilding relationshipsOrganisational awarenessDrive & energyExcellence orientationEthical behaviourCommitment towards continuous improvementAbility to work independentlyGood time managementHonesty and reliabilityEmail: ****** Closing date: Tuesday, November 5, 2024
