Sommelier / Foh - Hillcrest

Award Winning Restaurant in Hillcrest is looking for a Sommelier / FOH candidate to suggest suitable wines to pair with dishes on the menu. The candidate should have a passion for wine and outstanding guest service skills.
Responsibilities:

Assisting the Executive Chef to put together 5 course wine pairing menus that uses fresh local produce.
Ensure presentation and temperature of all drinks are correct.
Updating wine list as necessary.
Placing order for all wines and other beverages.
Ensure a minimum loss through breakage, waste, theft and incorrect orders.
Assisting in running FOH operations
Monthly stock-takes
Promote guest satisfaction.
Adhere strictly to the provisions and regulations as contained in the Liquor Act.

Requirements:

Grade 12
Certificate from Cape Wine Academy or WSET level 1.
Preferably 1–2-years' experience
In depth knowledge of wines - grape varieties and regions, harvest times, climates, soils and wine making process and being able to communicate and explain this to guests.
Passionate about wine and the hospitality industry.
Applicable product knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal- & communication skills.
