Solar Systems Data Engineer – C&I – Johannesburg, South Africa04 Oct 2024Country: South AfricaCompany: WetilityC&IExperience: 4+About the jobJob Summary:Wetility, a leading residential hybrid solar technology and fintech company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Solar Systems Data Engineer to join the team.The primary role of the Solar Systems Data Engineer is to oversee all plant data, ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and security. This involves devising and executing data collection strategies, examining performance data, pinpointing areas for optimization, delivering data-driven recommendations for product enhancements and system improvements, and building software applications (from building data pipelines to automating tasks).Key Responsibilities:Data Collection and AnalysisDevelop and implement data collection strategies.Analyze and interpret performance data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for optimization.Collaborate with the installation and maintenance teams to ensure proper data collection procedures and data integrity.System Performance and Issue ResolutionContribute to improvement initiatives for system efficiency and reliability.Collaborate with the System and Product Manager to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop performance benchmarks for solar energy systems.Monitor the performance of deployed systems and proactively identify issues, providing recommendations for corrective actions.Conduct root cause analysis to investigate system performance deviations and implement appropriate solutions.Create and maintain comprehensive reports and dashboards communicating system performance and data insights to relevant stakeholders.Software Application DevelopmentCreate and maintain existing software applications.Technical Support and CollaborationResolution of customer inquiries related to plant data.Collaborate with the engineering team to provide data-driven recommendations for product enhancements and new product development.Leverage data insights to drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for increasing system efficiency and reliability.Active participation in cross-functional teams for innovation.Reporting and CommunicationCreate and maintain reports and dashboards.Provide data-driven recommendations for product enhancements and developments.Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.Minimum of 4 years of experience in data analysis or a similar role.Experience in the renewable energy industry, particularly solar energy systems, is highly desirable.Advanced analytical skills for interpreting and analyzing performance data.Experience using Python and conducting data science projects is essential.Expertise in implementing data collection strategies and real-time data monitoring.In-depth understanding of solar energy systems, including inverters and batteries.Familiarity with key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance benchmarking in the context of solar energy systems.Proven experience in conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.Proficiency in creating comprehensive reports and dashboards to communicate insights.Exceptional technical troubleshooting skills for addressing system issues.Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in monitoring and optimizing solar energy systems.It is an advantage to have:Experience with Microsoft Azure and backend software application development.Working understanding of APIs.Experience coding in C#.Experience working in an AGILE methodology and ceremonies.Experience using Tableau or other similar visualization software.If you are a Solar Systems Data Engineer with a passion for renewable energy, we invite you to apply for the role at Wetility.
