Responsibilities Be responsible for pre-bid and post-bid engineering, including coordinating and securing all required drawing/document approvals.
Design solar PV systems (roof-top and ground mount) following applicable standards.
Innovate and design suitable solutions, including but not limited to PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Create electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar systems using design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Layout, Skelion, Shadow Analysis).
Perform energy yield assessments and optimize overall design to achieve the lowest Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE).
Prepare detailed and optimized Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Conduct technical site visits and gather relevant data.
Keep track of existing and upcoming technologies in the Solar PV space, including BESS, modules, inverters, and Mounting Systems (MMS).
Provide technical support to business development, finance, procurement, and construction teams.
Communicate and coordinate with senior management for approvals and implementation strategies.
Represent the company with integrity and professionalism in all written and oral communications.
Requirements Educational Qualifications: BSc Engineering (Electrical), B.Eng Engineering (Electrical), or BTech Engineering (Electrical).
Minimum 2 years of design and project engineering experience in Solar PV, working with EPC, Developers, or in a consulting environment for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) projects.
Experience in utility-scale solar PV projects is a plus.
Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with PV design software such as PVSyst, Helioscope.
Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
Ability to work independently, prioritize, organize, and multi-task effectively to meet deadlines.
Available and willing to travel within South Africa and internationally as required.
Experience in Medium Voltage distribution design is an advantage but not a requirement.
Strong project management and teamwork skills.
Ability to think outside the box, with occasional travel.
