The Takealot Group is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team, based in Cape Town in the role of Socio-Economic Development Manager. The Group consists of two consumer facing brands, Takealot.com and MrD.
We are the largest South African based and arguably the largest African based consumer internet/e-commerce Group. Today we operate from offices in Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Johannesburg with warehouses in Cape Town and Johannesburg and a distribution facility in Durban.
This position reports to the Head of Public Policy and Corporate Affairs. Your responsibilities will include:Develop and embed the Group socio-economic development framework across the businesses in support of the business's objectives, including digital skills development, ESD and localization.Design, implement and evolve the organization's ESD and localization strategy and implementation blueprint, centered around partnerships.Initiate and sustain relationships with key funding institutions to enable and scale the digital skills, ESD and localization outcomes.Coordinate and manage relationships with key development and empowerment partners in the Group eco-system.Lead the development of the group ESD and localization strategies/policies/guidelines that incorporate preferential procurement tactical plans.Develop annual implementation plans and commercial initiatives.Manage cross-functional team leads that contribute to the digital skills, ESD and localization implementation.Guide the business development support (BDS) and capacity development framework for all ESD and localization programmes.In partnership with the Head of External Affairs, develop and execute on the following, but not limited to:
Takealot Marketplace Business Accelerator Development Programme.TDT Township Franchisee Development Programs.Funding partnerships with development funding institutions, private sector ESD funds and other private sector financial institutions.Insights about e-commerce uptake enhancement and small and medium enterprises across all subsidiaries amongst HDI's in underserved communities.Business Units' special ESD and localization projects and programmes.Manage all ESD and localization strategic partner agreements.Design and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework for all ESD and localization programmes to ensure continuous improvement.Monitor transformation related legislative changes and communicate these amendments to the business.Attributes Required:Experience in dealing with B-BBEE codes, verification and audit processes.Track record of developing integrated and sustainable projects that have a measured impact, through collaboration and partnerships.Proven track record of developing and managing successful supplier and partner relationships in a global environment.Evidence of working in, and navigating, complex stakeholder environments.Clear evidence of ability to build relationships and coalitions.Deep knowledge and experience of working in South Africa across private and public sectors.Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of these areas: economic growth, value chains, private sector, logistics, retail, technology, and e-commerce as well as entrepreneurship and/or small and medium enterprises (SMEs).Experience in managing a multistakeholder approach and strong track record in managing diverse stakeholder interests for common outcomes.Qualification & Experience:A Business-relevant Degree, Masters degree is preferred.A minimum of 8-10 years prior experience in enterprise and supplier development, small business development, community development, and/or sustainable development.The Environment:takealot.com employees are entrepreneurial and dynamic, smart, customer-centric, fun and have the shared ambition of takealot.com being the leading e-commerce company in Africa.We have fun, work hard, take ownership, work in teams to create solutions, and are always open to direct feedback/new ideas on where we can improve.We are short on ego and high on output.We are doers and not only thinkers, it's all in the execution after all.We love what we do and what we are creating.If you meet the above you are an Extraordinary Mind so come and join us!
