To promote, maintain, and develop the psychosocial functioning of clients in the community (individuals and families).
Role and ResponsibilitiesCase Work Providing counselling for individuals, children, couples and families in the following areas:Pre-marriage, marriageDomestic abuseMental HealthUnemploymentSubstance abuseBereavementPhysical DisabilityFamily dysfunctionPlay therapyFamily therapyConducting assessments for admission to the facilitiesApplying statutory interventions as appropriate i.e., domestic abuse, older persons, substance abuse and mental illnessPreparing necessary documentation relating to statutory interventionCourt appearances as necessaryConducting hospital visits as appropriateConducting home visitsMaintain file recordsHolding case conferences / family meetings (collaborating with the multidisciplinary team as needed)Crisis Management, relevant follow up and monitoring as required, which may require working afterhours and on weekendsCase management of client circumstancesAssess, implement and monitor family preservation and parenting programmesGroup Work Organizing and conducting groups to meet common identified psychosocial needs (This incorporates promotive, preventative, educative, and therapeutic forms of group work).Conducting needs analysis and developing proposals accordinglyDrafting group session and other relevant reports and statisticsCommunity Work Providing relevant activities in collaboration with the community development social workerProviding relevant psychosocial presentations to learners in schoolsIdentifying needs for community services and developing appropriate initiatives in terms of these needs / gapsFacilitating the community work processEstablishing, maintaining and evaluation of relevant programmesMaintaining files and records appropriatelyCompiling relevant presentations as necessaryEducation Sharing of knowledge in order to further the development of volunteers, students and members of the publicSupervision of and providing consultation to students & volunteersProviding public education on psychosocial mattersSpeaking at, writing articles for, arranging, and/or participating in seminars and conferences as appropriateMaintaining and developing appropriate professional qualifications, skills, knowledge related to field of workFurthering own professional development by making use of internal and external development opportunitiesDemonstrating insight and experience in initiating and sustaining effective therapeutic relationshipsAttending regular supervision meetings. The supervisor / consultant and supervisee / consultee share responsibility for facilitating an effective working relationship. Parties in this relationship must contract on the goals, structures and nature of this process, and must have regular evaluations of the process. Supervision discussions focus on support/professional development and monitoring.
Attending conferences, lectures and workshopsAttending group and/or individual consultation with appointed consultantsResearch Developing knowledge and skill pertaining to all areas of workParticipating in agency research.Initiating and completing other research that is beneficial to the organizationSourcing of relevant literature and informationEnsuring CPD points are obtainedIdentifying research needsCollaboration with Multidisciplinary Team Facilitating a collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationship with the multidisciplinary teamLiaising and arranging meetings with relevant internal divisions (e.g. care, medical, operations etc.) as necessary in accordance with protocols and proceduresLiaison with external affiliates / organizations Facilitating a collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationship with affiliates and external organizations in the best interest of the community (and to minimize duplication of services)Ad hoc tasks / Administration Ensuring all information regarding clients, groups, and other projects are appropriately maintainedMaintaining of records and statisticsAttending and participation in staff meetingsWriting relevant reports as appropriateLiaising with and reporting to the relevant internal and external stakeholdersProviding feedback to relevant teams when requiredQualifications and Education RequirementsMatricBachelor of Social Work (Degree)Current registration with relevant Professional Body is essentialPreferred SkillsOwn transport essentialComputer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint requiredGood command of the English language
