TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. Purpose of the position:
To provide professional and holistic social work services by assessing the needs of sex workers and implementing interventions and processes to meet their needs.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Social Work or B Social Science Degree from four-year College or university
Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience within key populations
SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions) registration
Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Proficiency in English and IsiSwati languages
Valid code 8 driver's licence
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides psychosocial support and counselling services to sex workers
Provides individual and group counselling to the families of sex workers
Coordinates closely with the Case Manager and provide holistic support
Facilitates harm reduction group session, individual sessions and family co-joint
Educates clients and their families on harm reduction and related issues
Follows up on referrals with regards to psychosocial and emotional needs of clients
Networks with all relevant stakeholders and implement an effective referral system
Provide treatment adherence for sex workers
Designs training modules
Conduct and facilitate monthly adherence clubs and other appropriate support groups
Record and maintain accurate and detailed client information and interventions
Monthly reporting
Links clients to housing, shelters, safe spaces and other government facilities
Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings
Works within the framework of the ethics and scope of practice of the social work profession
