Christ Church Spitalfields, East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa
Hours: 16,800 (3 days)
Job Description: We are looking to recruit a Social Transformation Pastor who will lead our church in supporting the local community through practical love, inviting others into relational community, and ultimately embodying the way of Jesus through social action. As a church community, we are passionate about positively impacting the lives of those in need, shaping our culture, and seeing our city changed.
This role involves taking our current initiatives - GrowTH (a night shelter for homeless guests), the Food Pantry (supporting local families with food parcels), and Life Skills Classes, and looking for opportunities to expand across the borough.
The postholder will coordinate volunteer teams for the social transformation projects, recruiting and developing leaders within those teams. They will develop volunteering as a key discipleship tool within the church and maintain a high profile for social transformation, fostering a culture of celebration and expectation. Additionally, they will be active in fundraising, both internally and externally.
The postholder will understand the dynamic between loving people practically, inviting them into relational community, and sharing our faith as a matter of priority. This will involve training volunteers in evangelism as well as the practicalities of volunteering. Furthermore, it will involve responding pastorally to individuals, both team members and families.
Application Deadline: 6th November 2024
