Employer DescriptionAn established law firm located in Durban North.Job DescriptionOur client seeks a competent Junior Attorney to join their established law firm in Durban. This position will entail heading up the Home Loans Litigation Department which includes Foreclosures and Debt Collection. The department consists of 7 staff members.You will be responsible for:Dealing with the Absa Foreclosure Undefended DepartmentSigning off on all Notices and Pleadings (Section 129 Notices, Summons & Affidavits)Drafting Rule 46 Affidavits, Substituted Service Affidavits, Supplementary Affidavits, Settlement Agreements, Notice of Bar and/or other legal documentationAssisting debtors with their accounts and concluding payment arrangements (numerous telephonic discussions with debtors will be held throughout the day)Submitting payment proposals to the Bank for considerationDealing with admin-related queries regarding matters and be able to provide the Bank with updates and/or seek the guidance and assistance of Counsel for assistanceOversee matters that are in Court on a daily basis, this will include but not be limited to the following:Briefing of Counsel for Rule 46A Applications and confirming their availability;Updating the Bank with the outcome of the matters;Preparing spreadsheets for matters that are set down together with their outcome for Stat purposes for management;Assist with finalizing all set-down matters this includes drafting of Supplementary Affidavits, Sub Service Affidavits, running copies, having Affidavits commissioned , and so on to ensure that the matters run smoothly.Be able to provide feedback to Counsel on the day of the matter.QualificationsLLB Degree.Admitted Attorney of the High Court2 years' post admission experienceSkillsThe successful candidate must have:Min 2 years' experience post admissionProven experience dealing with Absa Foreclosure Undefended mattersBe familiar with the Banks internal system "DM SOFTWARE" and be able to update each account and attend to the Banks review requests timeously.
