With more than 97,000 employees, SGS operates a network of over 2,600 offices and laboratories around the world.Job DescriptionPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform inspection and reports on Mineral commodities and to manage Natural Resources Mineral commodities, in accordance with instructions received from Regional Manager and/or Operations Supervisor.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain quality, efficiency and confidentiality of service.Liaise with inspectors and field site auditors to manage field staff and sample preparation team efficiently in terms of work instructions and timesheet approval.Continuously upgrade the quality of services offered.Establish, direct and review the system of application, recording, certification, filing, sample storage and field auditing.Communication with other branches/divisions and the laboratory to achieve the required turnover time for all submitted samples.Coordinate shipments and other field work.Co-ordinate compiling of spreadsheet results, updating daily and reporting to client where needed.Assist in efficient administrative by directing work activities to inspectors and field site supervisors.Implementation of cost control measures (Blu timesheets, PPE usage, inspection items).Liaise with the clients where needed to ensure proper work instructions received.Making sure that the direct superior is informed regarding progress and/or non-conformance.Liaise with local clients regarding pertinent details and information related to the operations.Assist in continuously upgrading the quality of services offered, in support of Customer services policy and minimizes client complaints and claims.Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS Management System.Ensure that compliance with all requirements of the inspection order.Ensure OIMS requirements are met.Participate and form part of Operational Integrity projects and campaigns.Apply Check status process and use the stop work Authority wherever the control of risks is not clearly established and understood.Adhere to all health, safety and environmental requirements of the SGS OI management system and country legislation and laws.Perform housekeeping to ensure that the work areas and surrounding environments are always kept clean.Be compliant with all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.Manage Durban branch site in terms of quality and safety planning, execution and monitoring.Perform Risk assessments prior to commencement of all jobs.Training of subordinates in all areas of inspections and write/issue mission orders and competency modules for each task performed.Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action to address the issue.QualificationsREQUIREMENTSMinimum of 3 years of trade-related experience or similar.Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write).Typing Skills.Computer Literacy in Word and Excel.Calculation capability - accurate capturing of field data.Years' experience in inspection operation.REQUIRED SKILLSGood communication and interpersonal skills.Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write).Any other languages is an added advantage.Typing skills an advantage.Valid Passport an advantage.Ability to problem solve.Delivering results and meeting divisions expectations.Planning and organizing.Adapting and responding to changes.COMPLIANCE & AUTHORITYGranted sufficient authority to achieve the given responsibilities as per relevant SGS Authority policies.Ensuring the whole site is kept up to a good standard of housekeeping at all times.As far as able, prevent injury, manage injuries and facilitate early return to work programs at the workplace.Participate and form part of Operational Integrity projects and campaigns.Comply and conform to the QHSE policies and procedures of the company.Apply Check status process and use the stop work Authority wherever the control of risks is not clearly established and understood.Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS Management System.
