Job Overview:The Site Manager/Mine Overseer will be responsible for overseeing the drilling operations and blasting department, ensuring efficient site management and achievement of production targets. This role will involve direct responsibility for compliance with legal requirements, health and safety standards, and operational efficiency in both drilling and blasting activities.Key Responsibilities:Site Management:Oversee all aspects of the site's operations, including labor, productivity, safety, and quality control, in accordance with EMS Mining standards and client expectations.Develop and review operational policies and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including the Mine Health and Safety Act.Manage client relationships, providing regular progress updates and attending client meetings.Drilling Operations:Ensure efficient operation of all drilling activities, focusing on safety, cost management, and production goals.Monitor drilling targets and optimize operations to meet contractual requirements.Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely servicing and repairs of drilling equipment.Blasting Operations:Oversee all blasting activities, ensuring that the correct methods and explosives are used according to operational needs and safety regulations.Supervise the blasting crew, conduct pre- and post-blast inspections, and maintain accurate records of blasting activities.Monitor hazards, control risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols during all blasting operations.Compliance and Safety:Ensure all site activities comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act and other legal requirements.Lead by example in maintaining a safe working environment, promoting a culture of safety among staff, and ensuring the correct handling and disposal of explosives.Leadership and Team Management:Provide leadership to site personnel, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring high performance across the team.Manage resources, including staff and equipment, ensuring efficient use of assets and control of costs.Requirements:Qualifications:Grade 12.Mine Overseer's Certificate of Competency.Blasting Certificate (Opencast).Competency A Certificate.Code 8 or 10 driver's license.Experience:A minimum of 5 years in mining drilling equipment operations, with at least 3 years in hard rock opencast blasting.3-5 years of experience in a senior management role.Knowledge of open cast mining methods.Underground mining experience (an advantage).OHS Training (advantageous).Skills & Competencies:Strong business acumen and results-oriented approach.Proficient in mining software and operational systems.Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Strong understanding of safety and regulatory compliance.Ability to manage client relationships and influence teams toward successful outcomes.Job Type: Full-timeApplication Question(s):Are you a 2.6.1.
