The Site Laboratory Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the operation and functions of the Laboratory. This role supports the Director in meeting business objectives and ensuring compliance with Company policies and business guidelines.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, lead, and control the Laboratory Operations.
Manage and monitor operational performance of the Laboratory Operations.
Responsible for revenue and expense control of the Laboratory Operations, in line with operational budgets and business strategies.
Set annual budget targets in collaboration with the Managing Director.
Responsible for pricing policies in conjunction with the Managing Director.
Ensure adequate manpower resources, equipment, and tools are available for operational efficiency.
Effectively manage and continuously improve the quality management system and implement certifications and accreditation systems within the business lines.
Implement Lula QMS and client-specific safety mining standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025).
Provide liaison and technical support to all present and potential clients.
Assist the Managing Director with customer complaints and claim resolution.
Assist the Managing Director with technical and sales support as well as proposal coordination.
Assist the Managing Director with attaining new business and business development.
Stay abreast of new trends, current developments, and relevant research.
Attend all meetings as per client requirements.
Maintain a minimum of 98% compliance with the Service Level Agreement.
Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by the direct line manager.
Conduct relevant daily meetings with the Senior Lab Analyst, Lab Analysts, Lab Assistants, Lab Samplers, and Office Administrator.
Conduct monthly service level agreement performance meetings with clients.
Hold weekly meetings with the Managing Director.
Conduct quarterly client satisfaction surveys with all stakeholders.
Qualifications
Degree/National Diploma in Chemistry (preferred).
Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science.
TQMS qualification advantageous.
Additional Information
Minimum of 4 years management/supervisory experience in a coal environment.
Experience in coal sampling, sample preparation, analysis, and coal beneficiation is essential.
Experience with budgets, cost control, and evaluation of data and results.
