Resident Site Engineer - NewcastleResponsibilities:Act as the Engineer's representative on site.Communicate daily with the Principal Engineer and provide updates on site details.Read and understand all drawings/documentation issued to site. Maintain a record of every drawing issued.Oversee bulk earthworks and selected earthworks related to trenches.Supervise new concrete, brickwork (new and existing), and roof construction.Manage demolitions and existing works.Oversee new water (reticulation and wet services), sewer (reticulation and wet services), and stormwater systems, including manholes.Supervise the construction of new access roads and security walls.Ensure all works comply with the issued drawings and confirm every dimension or level is strictly adhered to.Check trench excavated foundations and confirm founding conditions; liaise with the appointed geotechnical team.Sign off on foundations and prepare all sketch drawings and paperwork for engineer inspections and approvals.Review and sign off on all reinforcement and blinding prior to concrete being poured.Conduct test cubes for concrete and check lab results; witness every concrete pour and sign off on completed work.Inspect structural formwork and supporting scaffolding; provide feedback to the Safety Engineer.Supervise demolition and ensure safety compliance.Verify all dimensions on drawings and ensure works comply with architectural and engineering drawings issued.Sign off on all completed work and prepare related paperwork for checks and balances.Approve all civil works related to water, sanitation, stormwater, and roadways, undertaking all SANS 1200 related testing to obtain relevant approvals.Prepare as-built records (handwritten) on approved drawings issued by all engineers and architects.Check measurements prepared by QS and confirm numbers.Issue site instructions related to the works as directed by the Engineer; manage the Site Instruction Book and provide feedback in meetings regarding instructions issued and their outcomes.Maintain a daily diary and sign off each day.Take minutes of meetings and prepare minutes for every site meeting.Keep a record of all site activities and maintain accurate logs of tests and results; manage all site information.Coordinate all site activities with the professional team.Attend site safety meetings and obtain minutes from the site safety representative for all meetings; provide feedback to the Engineer.Minimum Qualifications:Qualified Engineer or Retired Engineer (Civils or Structural) with valid Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng (CIVILS/STRUCTURAL) status and 10 years of experience or more.Experience in multistorey buildings, civils, and structural work.Package & RemunerationMarket and experience related.
