Do you have a thirst for Supply Chain? Cape Union Mart International is looking for a qualified, driven Shipping Controller in its Supply Chain Division. Cape Union Mart is an Outdoor Retailer and has a presence in fashion in the form of our Old Khaki and Poetry Chains. We have two factories in Cape Town and import finished goods and raw materials for all our businesses.
The successful candidate can self-manage, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, has a medium to high knowledge of excel and an ability to be flexible to cope with the ever-changing needs of the supply chain environment. They are a team player and have a strong customer centric approach to dealing with all stakeholders involved. They will be working with the buying, planning, finance and IT Departments; the Distribution Centres and the factories; International suppliers and SARS. As a Shipping Controller, they would play an integral role in the protection of Margin and the On Time In Full commitment to business.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Order Management
Manage bookings using various carrier options for best margin maintenance
Ensure on time shipments
Obtain Quotes for airfreight shipments
Process Clearings for SARS duties
Due Diligence on documents provided
Issue instructions to Freight Forwarders for Customs Clearance
Ad hoc analyses & reporting
Will be required to do ad hoc excel analyses using data from Oracle/Tradecloud/Qliksense within agreed deadlines
Data insights to be reviewed for clear business decisions to be made
Weekly/Monthly reports to be processed and issued to business
Invoices & payments
Processing of invoices in Tradecloud and liaising with factories and Finance regarding discrepancies
Governance
Supply all necessary documentation to SARS and Auditors as and when requested
Apply timeously for all legislative permits required
Submit new or amended applications of import and export licenses to SARS
System enhancements
Work with Tradecloud, Finance and Oracle teams for new system requirements and User Acceptance Testing
Draw up basic requirements documents for system enhancements
Log calls for system errors and troubleshoot resolutions with relevant application teams
SOP's
Manage all requirements and process changes necessary should any of the above change for good business reasons or continuous improvement
Workshop and publish changes with fellow Shipping Controllers
Project Management
Self Manage all mini-project deliverables and deadlines
Use of basic gantt charts and project updates to Line Leader
Candidates may require working off site at factories or Distribution Centres and would need to navigate their way there using public transport or company pool car
Qualifications and Experience Required
An NQF 6-7 qualification in Supply Chain/B Com Supply Chain Management
2+ years of experience working in a supply chain environment is advantageous
Proven knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office is crucial (Outlook, Word and Excel), Excel using vlookups and pivots is essential
Knowledge of imports, clearing and forwarding is advantageous
