Shipping Controller

Our client is seeking a Shipping Controller in the Shipping Department. This role involves reporting to the Operations Manager and ensuring the efficiency of the team by managing daily tasks within the imports and export process.
Key Job Functions: Accurately handle all veterinary certificates.Check and book all spaces on vessels promptly.Capture all customer information and deliver documentation at ports.Liaise with cold storage regarding container bookings and stock availability.Ensure successful administration of all port documents.Comply with Occupational Health & Safety, HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, and other standards.Perform ad hoc duties as required.Qualifications and Experience: Minimum qualification: Matric with an additional qualification in Logistics/Supply Chain or related field.3-5 years' experience in a similar role.Proven computer skills.Knowledge of South African Customs and import & export control.Experience in shipping and freight environment advantageous.Familiarity with EDI, bill of entries, SAD 500, VOC, export and cargo dues.Good verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work weekends and overtime.Capacity to work under pressure.Competencies: Strong planning and organizing skills.Team player with the ability to multitask.Self-starter with a high level of accuracy.Customer-centric approach with a sense of urgency.
