The Shift Controller will report to the Production Superintendent and will be overseeing all Senior Operators on shift and will be responsible for the safe manufacturing according to regulations while setting production targets and directing materials handling operations up to final status.
The ideal person would be someone who:
Has a BSc Chemical Engineering, or BSc Chemistry, or a Technical Diploma in Chemical Engineering (non-negotiable).
Has undergone training in First Aid, Fire Fighting, Plant Procedures and Safe handling of Hazardous Chemicals.
Has at least 1 year's experience post Grad as a dedicated Shift Controller/Senior Production Supervisor in a Chemical Production Plant; proven experience as a Senior Operator might be beneficial.
Experience working with Organometallics, Catalysts and other Chemicals might be an advantage.
Is willing to work weekly rotating shifts (morning shift - afternoon shift - night shift) - Plant runs 24hrs/5days a week.
RSA Citizen.
No criminal record.
Already resides in the Cape Town region, or be who is willing to relocate to Cape Town on own cost.
Main duties for the role include but are not limited to:
-Implement standard operating procedures for batch productions, utilities, and general procedures.
-Training the shift's Production Staff in the implementation of batch and general operating procedures.
-Supervise and direct materials handling operations up to final state for dispatch.
-Operate the entire Process Plant from the PLC control system, as well as manually from the field, including safe start-up and shutdown of plant.
-Setting production targets.
-Supervising machinery and reporting to the Production Superintendent any maintenance requirements.
-Upholding and implementing all Safety / ISO (ISO9001 & ISO14001) /OHSA regulations and instructions and maintaining documentation thereof as required.
-Complete all necessary plant operations documentation and record keeping, as prescribed by the Production Superintendent.
-Ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained and shift personnel's adherence to all rules & regulations.
